Pocha Pocha 3 (Heavy & King-Weight)

The big news at IMDb is thatthe Pink Film Award page now contains my first successful submission: Best Director winner os 2014-- Mototsugu Watanabe. It is also listed on his page of awards. Dumb-ass that I am, Watanabe did not win Best Director this year-- he just directed the Best Picture. Yutaka Ikejima is Best Director this year... So I'm going to have to fix that screw-up. But, anyway, there is hope for this page after all! I'm considering whether to go ahead and enter all the Best Directors since 1988 first, or to do each year thoroughly later.

I finally finished adding the images to Pink film posters and DVD/VHS covers that I had acquired in the process of acquiring video files. That took much longer than I anticipated-- nearly a week-- but then I have been collecting video files for over half a year now. I'm going to have to make watching these movies a daily routine. I've enjoyed a very good percentage of those that I have watched, and look forward to seeing them all. Even ones that I have been dubious about watching-- the Angel Guts series, for example-- due to themes like sadism that don't appeal to me, have impressed me with their low-budget cinematic artistry.

Ichijo's Wet Lust (1972)

Thursday night I watched writer-director Tatsumi Kumashiro's Ichijo's Wet Lust (一条さゆり　濡れた欲情 - Ichijô Sayuri: Nureta yokujô;1972). Like the other Kumashiro Roman Pornos I've seen, my immediate impression... well, 15 minutes or so into the film... was, "I'm going to have to watch this again to understand what's going on." I don't mean that as a put-down... Kumashiro's films are highly-regarded by the critics, but I wonder what the audiences of dirty old men thought at the time. Here we have, basically, a sex movie, but it demands repeated viewing. At about the half hour mark, the impression I had was, "This is a very great film." I was very emotionally involved, but not completely sure why. For one thing-- and of interest to this blog-- though the younger girl, Hiroko Isayama as Harumi, gets the main focus of the film, but Ichijo Sayuri-- the real-life stripper on whose life the film is based-- is a very sexy woman. Buxom for the time, but also intelligent and just plain sexy, she does some very exciting Red Peony-type routines on stage.

The World of Geisha (1973)

Friday I saw The World of Geisha (四畳半襖の裏張り - Yojôhan fusuma no urabari;1973), and it really converted me to the greatness of Kumashiro. This one also requires me to watch it again-- and to do some more reading into Japanese history-- before I can make any meaningful comments on it, but it's obviously a very, very good film. Like Ichijo's Wet Lust, there is a political subtext to its eroticism. Ichijo makes points about the hypocrisy of contemporary Japanese censorship, while Geisha goes back to comment on the beginnings of Japan's disastrous military expansion in the early 20th century. It follows the lives of women in a geisha house about 1918-1920, when the military is just starting to cause some real mischief in the region. (With that theme, it brings to mind Nagisa Ôshima's later, internationally-celebrated In the Realm of the Senses (1976). I think this little-known "Roman Porno" is every bit as good as that film, without the shock-value.) The last scene is truly extraordinary. A dumpy soldier has just received orders to go fight in Siberia, to his almost certain death. He has to report to duty in five minutes, or be shot. He uses that time for a last, tearful quickie with the dumpy geisha with whom he had had plans to marry and settle down on a farm. A rich playboy overhears their pathetic love-making and is inspired to engage in a meaningless quickie with the geisha he is with. It's very funny, very sad, poignant, and deeply moving all at once. How many "porno" films make you wipe away a tear? Bravo, Kumashiro!

Street of Joy (1974)

Saturday night I saw Street of Joy aka Red Light District: Gonna Get Out (赤線玉の井　ぬけられます - Akasen tamanoi: Nukeraremasu; 1974). As with the other two, this one dealt with Japan's world of erotic entertainment. In this case, the story was set at a brothel in  1955-- the last year of legal prostitution. It was a good, solid film, with lots of Kumashiro's style apparent, but it didn't impress me as much, on first viewing, as the previous two. Kumashiro's main actress in all three films was Junko Miyashita, who is a great actress, but not my type-- too thin. There was a funny bit in the movie about one of the hookers trying to break the record for most tricks in one day, then getting a drunk customer who couldn't get it up... pretty good, but not as great as the previous two: Seven stars out of ten.

On Monday night, for my last sampling of Pink cinema for the week, I tried a change of pace, and went with something from good old wacky Hisayasu Sato: Chikan densha: Iyarashii koui or Birthday (1993). His films became so notoriously unpopular among the regular dirty-old-man pink film audience that he had to start using aliases when he directed. He directed this film under the name Hisakazu Hata. Sato actually has plenty of sex in his films, whereas with Kumashiro's films-- which were very popular-- I sometimes forgot I was watching a sex film. This film was made 20 years after the Kumashiro films though, and I guess there could have been an increased expectation for sex. This was the first of Sato's films I've seen that I didn't care much for. Thematically it reminded me somewhat of of Kôji Wakamatsu's celebrated 1969 pink film, Go, Go Second Time Virgin-- two alienated teenagers meditating on life and death between bouts of sex. It also had a few motifs I recognized in Sato's own, later, better Sukebe-zuma: otto no rusu ni or Rafureshia (1995). The screenplay was by Yutaka Ikejima's wife, Kyôko Godai. Films she has written for her husband have his more populist style, while this one for Sato is as elusive, arcane, and introspective as most of Sato's work, though considerably toned down in terms of violence and perversion. The story involves a boy alienated by his perverted family, who can only feel reality in 3-dimensions when he's seeing it through a camera, and a girl who plans to blow herself up on her 20th birthday... spoilers aside, I was disappointed that this main plot point went nowhere-- after all that anticipation, the dynamite turns out to be a dud... Star Yumika Hayashi was a legend in the Pink film / AV world, who died tragically after drinking too much celebrating her own birthday. She was very pretty, and is quite cute in this film, but too skinny and girlish for my taste. Sato's other main leading lady in other films-- Kanako Kishi (岸加奈子)-- was also skinny, and rather homely, though a very captivating actress. I guess this fits in with Sato's geeky-intellectual aesthetic... but enough of that... let's get into the big, earthy, happy and chubby girls that you and I enjoy so well!

Marina Jônouchi

Let's finish the survey of the Pocha Pocha site we started last week. First in the "Heavy" class is AV idol Marina Jônouchi as "Watanabe". She has appeared for the soapland before, and her scheduled appearance this time is still not certain. She's reported to be 23 years old currently and with a top measurement of 150cm P-cup, and 120cm in the hips.

I'm surprised that big-butt AV star, Sara Aikawa, with her 140(K)-101-171 measurements, is classified as a mere Heavy, rather than a King-sized BBW. 25-year-old Sara, a favorite of fans of big Japanese girls, is retiring and moving to Osaka to give customers a chance to sample her charms.

Miyabi Hayama

"Heavy" girl Miyabi Hayama was already noted at the Pocha Pocha site as appearing at the soapland CocoLulu. Her recently un-retired status gives us hope that, like many JAV performers, Sara Aikawa's retirement is only temporary. Miyabi's profile has been updated, and new pictures of this lovely lady are always worth taking a look at.

Her boobs aren't that huge in the videos I've seen-- she's just a very cute, big girl-- so either she's had some work done, or-- more likely-- we're seeing some digital enhancement in these pictures.

Reiko Nakamori, star of JAV and Pink film

One good thing about the JAMS series was that a couple girls already had entries at IMDb, and are therefore not just of BBW-AV specialist interest. And I do have fewer reservations about entering these Japanese adult videos into IMDb, because the Japanese adult video industry is far more mainstream than the American. Many adult video personnel also work in the softcore, and respectable, Pink film genre, and many Pink film personnel work in purely mainstream cinema-- Academy Award-winner Yôjirô Takita for one. Besides her JAMS work, Reiko Nakamori, for example, also appeared in director Daisuke Gotô's Chikan densha: Yure nureru sakuragai (2011) and Yutaka Ikejima's Hitozuma shôfu: Motto hazuka shimete (2012). Gotô and Ikejima are both major Pink film directors. So IMDb now has Reiko's proud early career working at JAMS with BBW-specialist directors Timio Juvorenup and Magllow in Kyûin fera-buster: Nikkan vacuum girl (2009) and Boin dôjô 2: chônyû bosei-hen (2009; with Tamaki Yasuoka). Ai Miyazaki and Reika Shinohara also already had a pages before I added their JAMS work.

Minagi Usagi, soon to have an IMDb page?

IZM and JAMS were probably the two main series that I did at Boobpedia, and so already had the credits translated and ready to go. I did a lot of other series, but not with so many big-name big girls, so they're probably the two most appropriate for IMDb. I might go on to the Pocha Pocha Princess Pretty series next, doing just the videos with major BBW stars, like Minagi Usagi. My next step in this AV project will be to make complete filmographies for the girls who interest me most. Tamaki Yasuoka, Karen Tôdô and Minagi Usagi will probably be my main subjects, then I'll probably concentrate more on Pink films again. I have been submitting as much personal data as I can, but IMDb has only been accepting bogs/sites (which is good), and height-- which isn't all that interesting. I learned years ago that they won't accept measurements, and now they are very reluctant even to take birthdays. One other aspect to this AV project is synopses and reviews. When I review a video here, I will probably boil it down and reword it to add to IMDb.

I was pleased at all the interest generated here by the mention of Sofia Rose on Sunday, since I think she's gorgeous. I have regained contact with her, and she's excited about her new page at IMDb. I'm preparing a list of interview questions for her about her career since last we spoke-- to update her Boobpedia page-- and on her experiences with IZM, the IZM girls, and Japan, to report on here at this blog.

Noa Serizawa: SND-35

This week's video review features the lovely Noa Serizawa in her May 2010 JAMS DVD, Mega Busty Expansion! Super Boobs Advertisement Planner (SND-35). The structure of this video is rather interesting from the point of view of AV history. It is two hours long, and consists of four half-hour segments, each one a stand-alone story unto itself. This makes it something of a throw-back to the earliest days of the Japanese AV. In those days-- the 1980s-- AVs tended to be like little Pink films, running half the length of these theatrically-released softcore productions. These videos were half-hour story-heavy videos with two or three short nude/sex scenes, only slightly more explicit than their theatrical counterparts. Eventually the AV became more explicit, with the sex being the be-all and end-all, resulting in the sort of AV that I've complained about recently: Bodies having sex, end of video.

The first half-hour story is almost a nod to this video's Pink Film ancestry. It starts out with Noa, in school girl uniform, being groped by some perv on the subway. This seems like a reference to the long-running Groper Train series of Pink Films. Though the first film in this series was directed by Pink Film pioneer, Shinya Yamamoto, Academy Award-winner Yôjirô Takita made this series his own in the '80s, filming some Pink masterpieces in the process. Noa almost immediately becomes a willing participant in the action, rather than a screaming victim-- which is really a turn-off to me. And a running theme throughout this video consists of Noa turning the tables on the bumbling men who attempt to molest or dominate her in some way. After about 12 minutes the groper suddenly gets up and walks away... apparently his stop has come up... The groper is obviously a boob-man, since he does nothing in this scene but massage and suck Noa's impressive boobs. The cameraman, however, has broader interests, giving us plenty of loving looks at Noa's equally impressive thighs.

The next 15 minute half of this story has Noa at home. Here we get some of my favorite images of her thighs, while looking girlish and talking on the phone. She is reporting to someone about the attacked on the subway, saying she was scared, but OK. The subway pervert has followed her home, and is hiding in wait to attack her. The need to do this seems elusive, since she was such a willing participant in the train molestation. Seems like he could have just taken her to a movie and brought her home... anyway, she is once again not reluctant at all, and joins in on the action. In fact she gets so into it, she smothers him with her boobs and then starts whacking him with them, actually knocking him out. The tables turned, the submissive molester is now ordered by Noa to give her a massage. This is the kind of amusing little touch that I enjoy. We get to see all the sex we want, plus a little amusing story to go with it. The concluding massage, oddly, has Noa fully clothed again, which is a drawback, but the camera does give us plenty of looks at her cleavage and thighs again...

At about 24 minutes into the video, the story changes. Noa carries that weird-looking little guy who is in so many BBW JAVs into her room. He's apparently drunk and has to take a piss. Noa has to help him get into the bathroom, He's a wily little devil and plays on her sympathy to get a roll in the hay. This scene is pretty conversation-heavy. She shows him considerable contempt, while still eventually allowing him to screw her, resulting in the first straight sex scenes in the video so far. This scene takes us about an hour-- half way-- into the video.

We next find Noa visiting a doctor for a massage. He grunts and huffs away in a very strenuous and professional manner, giving the scene some humorous authenticity. He starts using his face to massage her buttocks, and eventually manages to unfurl and rub her boobs. He gets a little too grabby for Noa's taste and she flips him onto the floor, and then she subjects the old quack to some of her own molestation. He whimpers pathetically as she fellates him mercilessly, then rubs her ass against his crotch until he's helpless. It's all amusing, while Noa remains quite sexy-- although clothed except for her breasts.

The last half-hour story has Noa as a model. A gentleman brings a red costume for Noa to change into. She reluctantly does so, and then he snaps pictures of her, employing a lot of manual instruction while posing her. Sex ensues quickly enough, and the customer nearly collapses in exhaustion after climaxing. Noa's dorky little boyfriend from the second half-hour story is then revealed to have been the cameraman all through this final scene, thereby showing this last story to have been a set-up for a blackmail trap, while at the same time tying two of the stories in the video together.

There is more nudity in this video than in the early AVs / Pink films that this video was apparently modeled after, but it is still very skimpy on nudity in comparison to contemporary AVs. Noa is absolutely gorgeous to behold throughout-- plump, chubby and sexy-- but she is almost always clothed, and about all we see of her is her boobs. I do like looking at a woman like Noa even in clothing. As I've mentioned in some previous reviews, I prefer a little bit of scenario/story-based sex scenes in AVs. They add a little bit of context to the proceedings, making them a little more interesting, and even a little more arousing than just simple anonymous sex. Still, I did get the feeling from this AV that I was getting cheated out of the sex and nudity that one expects from an AV.

This AV was very talky, and I didn't have the time, inclination, or enough Japanese language ability to get more than a general idea of what was being said. On the plus side, it was nice to hear the model's voice more than just during a brief interview, followed by what is obviously a different actress doing the moaning and groaning during the sex scenes-- as is the norm in AVs. Noa's voice is nice-- a little on the deep side, but not as husky/sexy as some (LUU's comes to mind), or baby-like/sexy as Usagi Minagi's.

Video quality / sexiness aside, Noa Serizawa is another one of my all-time favorite models (why are so many of my all-time favorites popping up in these review? Because I review the ones I like...): Cute, plump face, great boobs, and incredible thighs. She's also quite good in the sex scenes: Neither too slutty, nor reluctant and whiny, just a nice girl having a good time. So, for the BBW fan, I give this one highest ratings. For boob fans and ass fans: High ratings. Thigh fans: Highest ratings. As far as the general video quality, it's all professionally done, and gets high ratings for that. The whole production errs a little TOO far on the side of story though, and winds up being overly talky, and softcore without having the interesting writing, cinematography and acting that a real Pink film can offer. So for nudity/sex fans, and AV fans in general, I'm afraid this one would get a Low rating. Balancing the pros and cons out, I give it a respectable 7 out of 10.

Noa Serizawa: SND-20

I was able to watch Super Boob Gal!! Delicious, Juicy Woman Flesh (JAMS; July 2009; SND-20) last night, and got started on GAS-242 with Hana Uehara. SND-20 is part of JAMS' New Sexy Zone series and stars the scrumptious Noa Serizawa. With impressive measurements of 128-82-106(cm) / 50-32-42(in) and a Japanese K-cup bra, she's certainly a model that arouses attention. Unfortunately she doesn't seem to have much of a filmography, appearing in only three DVDs that I know of, in 2009/2010. This DVD was her first for JAMS, which seems to be the only studio she's worked for.

This is a fairly straight-forward sex video. It has a few interesting camera angles, but they don't really add to the action. The one above is from the first sequence of the video, in which Noa-san gives a soapland treatment to a lucky gentleman.

The next sequence has Noa playing with her boobs for the camera, and then giving paizuri to a large dildo. So far nothing out of the ordinary about the video, except for the very beautiful BBW model, Noa. She wears the blond wig or dyed hair throughout the video, which doesn't add anything, and actually takes away, in my book, but she's still quite beautiful.

The rest of the video consists of the real sex, and this is where Noa really shines. She moves in a very sexy way-- not overly wild, and not overly-passive, as with some actresses. She seems to be enjoying herself, and she grinds rather slowly and very erotically.

A brief soft-S&M scene follows, with Noa abusing a captive man with her body... If I'm ever convicted of a crime, THIS is the punishment I want!

Noa shines again in another straight sex scene, starting out with her on top. She doesn't bounce and flop her boobs around, which Tamaki Yasuoka does so well, she just lovingly humps the guy, happily and without too much fuss. 

She proves to be just as beautiful on the receiving end, with her big boobs pancaked out. All-in-all, while nothing extraordinary, this video is made better than the usual by the beautiful presence of Noa, and by her superior sex scenes...
Model: Noa Serizawa is one of the bet of the best, a classic BBW beauty and an excellent performer.
Video: Good, solid BBW admiring and sexual activity, no frills, but nothing to set it out from the pack either: A solid 7 stars out of 10.

Waka okusama: Maruhi takkyûbin (1994)

At IMDb I finished the year 1994, submitting new films: Inran minshuku: Okami-san ga iku!, Waka okusama: Maruhi takkyûbin, Tsumatachi no hirusagari: Shûdan furin, Furinzuma: Otto ni iwanaide!, Fûzoku-jô: Naisho de honban, Obasamatachi no chitai: Injuku, Meiki no himitsu: Chijo santai, Honban marudashi kahanshin, and editing information for Honban jukujo: Kyûshozeme. I got a good start on 1995, copying the list of 118 Pink film releases from PG, the credits from JMDb, and some of my own filmography listings. Tomorrow I'll have to finish that, copy the poster links, then I can start translating and submitting... might do a couple non-pink entries first, since I've got about a week extra before I officially start on 1995 in June... maybe some Kimiko Matsuzaka and Mariko Morikawa videos.

Men Don Black, Woman Doffs It

I went with my son to see Men in Black 3, without much knowledge of critical reaction, or of much hope for enjoying it. I didn't care much for the first film, and have never seen the second. I have to admit though, I rather liked this one. It didn't over-do the CGI crap that is so popular nowadays. Sure, it was there, but no more than necessary. There were a couple of obvious looks right at the screen that are telltale signs of self-conscious 3D, and sure enough, I see now that it was released in 3D-- we saw it in 2D. (Note that the most self-consciously 3D touch in Scorsese's Hugo [2011] is when the train comes directly at the audience off the screen, as in the film from the 1890s-- and that this is perfectly appropriate by using 3D to comment on movie history, which is what the film is about...) What got to me in this one especially was towards the end where the relationship between Tommy Lee Jones' and Will Smith's characters is explained in one very touching scene. That one scene, naturally, makes a much deeper and lasting impact than all the CGI put together. I would like to think that Hollywood is getting the message that non-stop gratuitous CGI is un-watchable without things like, you know, character and plot. But then I am getting Transformers-like vibes from the advertising for the Battleship, film, and, consequently, staying away. Anyway, MIB3 is a decent little time-travel sci-fi comedy with a heart. Josh Brolin is perfect as the younger Jones, and Jemaine Clement makes a good, likeably hate-able villain. Seven stars out of Ten from me.

My Boobpedia work was spread throughout the day. Working off & on I succeeded in starting bio stubs for all the actresses on the second and third lists of 10 DVD in the Busty Amateur Nakadashi series, totalling probably around a dozen or so new bio-stubs.

The evening's viewing enjoyment was taken up with another woman in costume, the Sherlock Holmes flick, The Woman in Green (1945), with the redoubtable team of Basil Rathbone and Nigel Bruce. Besides the amusing bumbling of Doc Watson (apparently annoying to Holmes purists, but still enjoyable), and the typically fine acting of Rathbone, the story has some surprisingly gruesome aspects which add to the entertainment value. A Jack the Ripper type is going around London murdering young women and cutting off their fingers. Seven stars out of ten.
